Steam for Android is the client app for the most advanced gaming community. Though the app offers no access to games themselves, it makes sense to download Steam for Android to be aware of the news.

Features Review

Stay Social

While the games offered in Steam are meant for desktop systems (Windows/Mac), don’t even hope you’ll be able to play them on your device. A full emulator is a much harder job. Instead, Steam client for Android brings all the social features the official application offers.

As you subscribe to news on some game, you’ll be notified each time a publisher rolls out an update, a new user review is out, or a new topic is started on it. It works the same way in social groups you’re in.

And, of course, the app always brings you the good news when Steam starts a new sale campaign, so you can buy new or classical games cheaper. And yes, you can make purchases directly from the app.

The interface of the app looks exactly like that of the desktop version. It is remade to be more usable on touchscreen devices, but still lacks a bit of originality, looking like a port rather than a standalone app.

Play Socially

But the app can be even more useful when you’re at your PC, playing an online game. The phone positioned right lets you chat with your friends like you do in any messenger. As Steam allows for multiple connections, it’s okay to involve one more device for your conversation.

But it depends on your Internet connection and on your device whether the chat will work properly. Sometimes it’s reported to show new messages after updating manually only. Sometimes it shows messages with noticeable delay. And still having it is better than switching to chat on your PC while playing.

Pros

● Has all the social features of PC/Mac app;

● Works simultaneously as you play on your PC;

● The interface is great and touch-oriented;

● You get notified of all the updates.

Cons

● No Android games (if you’re here for them);

● Notifications don’t always work properly;

● Bugs show on older smartphones.

Who Is It For?

If you’re not just player, but a fan watching all updates and conversations on your favorite games, then download Steam for Android immediately. It won’t let you play, but it brings you all about your favorite games, developers, players and clans, wherever you are.
